Jeri Rowe: Rare grand fortepiano strikes right chord

Elm, John Watson found it. He first saw it in pictures. He later saw it in the window. It looked like a tiny grand piano. Most everyone else saw it as a harpsichord. It had a faux keyboard, fragments of wire still wrapped around the tuning pieces and etched in the wood was the serial number: 188.
